The Mule Rack is a purpose-built rear rack for bikepacking and long-distance adventure touring. The Mule Rack delivers incredible versatility, proven strength, and adaptability to make the most of your next adventure. From drybags, cages, strap-style panniers, to last-minute resupply hauls, the Mule Rack is designed to adapt to your trip—not limit it. During development we did 100s of FEA tests and validated the design with 1000s of rugged bikepacking miles.
Adventure-Ready Versatility
Universal gear mounting: Lash drybags, cages, or strap-style panniers directly to the side panels or top deck.
Strap-style pannier compatible: Pairs perfectly with bags like Freewheel Mission SL or San Util Mini.
Top deck “Flat Bed”: Strap-friendly design with anchor slots and anti-sag structure.
Bolt on Cage locations -10+ cage and cargo mount locations on the rack body
Built Like No Other
The Mule Rack body is made by laser cutting 5052 AL, CNC bent, then heavily deburred and tumbled. This style of rack avoids the typical failure points of racks which are welds and arm swaging. Each rack body is paired with 6061-T6 foot plates where the additional strength is needed at the lower mounting point. Multiple slots along the rack edge give you multiple options for mounting the arms to give the rack perfect placement on your frame. Stainless steel hardware throughout for the ultimate corrosion resistance and longevity.

Fit & Compatibility
Tire clearance - Designed to fit 29" x 2.5" (63mm width), 29" x 3.0" (75mm width), and 27.5" x 3.8" (97mm width) (Actual clearance depends on frame geometry and rack mount locations)

Frame Mounting Requirements - Lower mounts are typically M5 eyelets (Plate B) near rear axle, but as mentioned above, some frames have pivot-style dropout plates and mount racks with larger M6 screws (Plate A). See frame manufacturer's info to be sure. Upper mounts are typically M5 seat stay mounts but if non-exist, seat clamps with M5 threaded eyelets can be used (e.g., Salsa Rack-Lock).
Pannier Compatibility - Works with modern strap-style mini panniers like Freewheel Mission SL Panniers (Formerly Bedrock Bags Hermosa UL) or San Util Mini Pannier. These style of panniers handle rugged, off-road terrain much better than the commuter style hard-mounted systems. Maximum strap width for the pannier is 191mm (7.5") outside-to-outside. The Mule Rack is not compatible with traditional hook-on commuter panniers.
